Fishing has long been a popular pastime in Hocking Hills, with several excellent fishing spots around the county. Remember, it is important to get a valid fishing permit or license for your fishing trip in Hocking, as it is required by law. The best place to get your license, bait, tackle, and up-to-date info on what’s biting is Down’s Bait Shop on Lake Logan Road.
FISHING IN HOCKING HILLS
Lake Logan is the first and most obvious choice, with over 400 acres of lake water stocked with schools of bass, bluegill, pike, crappie, saugeye, and catfish. Rose Lake offers 17 acres of clear water stocked annually with large rainbow trout. For those that prefer river fishing, the Hocking River has several great spots to post up. The mid and upper sections of the river have a large amount of smallmouth bass, channel catfish, white crappie, quill back, saugeye, and more. The best season for river fishing is in the Spring, but Summer anglers usually have some luck along the banks.
